My Philosophy

Are you feeling confused and isolated due to a loss? It is hard to come to terms with the idea we are grieving. While many people can easily relate grief to the death of a person or pet, suffering, in reality, expands across so many areas that we encounter on a day-to-day basis. Maybe you are going through a breakup or struggling with fertility, or you just found out your favorite coworker is moving to a new company. Perhaps you finished that last sip of wine that you brought back from the trip of a lifetime. There are many reasons to grieve, and unfortunately, when we don't know how to process grief, it can make us feel trapped.

I am a certified grief-informed professional and grief educator with advanced training in complex & traumatic grief. Let me help you navigate what is holding you at this place of loneliness and concern. Grief can often come out in the form of anxiety or depression, and working through the root cause of our distress can allow us to move forward with what we have lost.

I'm not here to tell you what you should and shouldn't do. I understand everyday life's conflicting priorities and demands while struggling with your internal issues. My goal is to help you find a way to move forward with your loss as a part of your story and continue to grow with it, not from it.

About Me

I spent over a decade working at a fast-growing tech company only to come to the realization that I want to follow my true calling in helping those in need. I received my bachelor’s of science degree in psychology from Virginia Tech and my master’s of arts in clinical mental health counseling from Marymount University. As a family oriented person, I enjoy spending my free time with my husband, daughter, and 2 cats.
It takes a lot to offend me. I appreciate dark humor and blunt conversation but appreciate that sometimes you also need someone to give you the supportive words that cannot be found anywhere else.

The phonetic spelling of my last name is PAHN-SEE-OWN
